“Guillaume Vierset’s identity has emerged slowly over the years. Both nonchalant and poetic, lively and invigorating, this Belgian guitarist, with his own particular insight, offers a singular view of today’s world.
Guillaume likes to let himself be transported by music to a place that hovers between dream and reality. He likes venturing to wastelands on which he succeeds in growing refined, delicately perfumed melodies.
This time round, after the LG Collective adventure and in parallel with his own project, Harvest Group, he explores some more progressive rock landscapes – but always with a jazz, folk or bluegrass base. In his wake, he brings the Danish double bass player, Anders Christensen (who has played with Tomasz Stanko, Jakob Bro, Paul Motion and Aaron Parks), the keyboardist Dorian Dumont, who is skilled at combining depth as relief with his subtly vintage playing style, and the excellent American drummer Jim Black (Alas No Axis, Tim Berne, Ellery Eskelin and Kurt Rosenwinkel) who adds spice with his incisive and original playing.
‘The original compositions offer spaces in which the rhythms can float in complete freedom and which allow for improvisations that are sometimes complex or complicated, but always extremely graspable. This results in a nuanced musical style, with peaks and troughs, full of invigorating frissons and comforting, contemplative breaths.”
